I have all kinds of projects brewin' for the winter! Some are prototypical, some not.
The prototype police will lock me away and throw away the key when they see my BN SD80/90MACs, and 40' GN boxcars on the same train, with a GN Empire Builder headed up by CB&Q E9's running by the freight in the 'hole'.... I have 4 more SD80/90MACs undec to paint, and have entertained thoughts of making each one into a BN predecessor scheme: GN Big Sky Blue (or a SD45 scheme like Hustle Muscle? Hustle Muscle II I'd call it!), NP SD45 scheme, CB&Q Redbird, SP&S C636 scheme.... Or make a pair more of WhiteMAC units, another TigerMAC, and a standard striped nose BN unit.
Which would be better? Matched WhiteMACs, or BN predecessor roads? Maybe one in Frisco, if I can get another undec.... What do ya'll think?

Empire Builder led by CB&Q power IS prototypical. Empire Builder made it into Chicago on the Q with Q power.

As for painting the 80/90MACs, I think the premerger schemes would be cool and would make a nice tribute.

I know it is proto to run the 'Builder in that fashion, but a 50's era train next to a loco that was built in the 90's running on the same tracks at the same time isn't prtototypical...
But yes, my BN High Prairie Sub. does love its heritage, and chooses to honor them with a few pre-merger paint schemes still in operational use on some of the fleet. :D
