Well, if operators have enough room to maneuver through comfortably, the double island stretches the length of your railroad. It may involve more construction. But if possible, I'd be tempted to look at this version closely.

    hmmm, it's difficult.

Personally I think the double_island_2 looks more interesting than the island_staging plan, but it seems like you would need some longer passing sidings, maybe combine the two on the center island into one siding, still with industry on both sides of the divider, or you could remove the industry and siding on the "north" side of the island and then extend the bottom siding of the center island the left and down, than way you will get a bit longer run between your double track coming out of the yard and the first siding.

One thing that I would like on my next layout (don't have space for it on my current layout) is to have at least 2 train length between sidings, and have 9-10' sidings (about 25 cars N scale), and have the track running though scenery only once.

    Just my thoughts.

The plan with the staging - on the right side, where the red track drops into staging along the front. This will be difficult to hide, as the track will be right in front, in the open. A long retaining wall will have to be used. It's not entirely unprototypical, but it's not very common. I would have the track to staging drop down behind the yard rather than in front if it.

I must be doing something, two other SOO fans responded to my posts!!!!!! [IMG]

Box, I agree with keeping the two island idea, I am standing firm on this, I will NOT reduce my radius,,which is 18". But lemme get my pencil out, and see what I can some up with.

Tiledude, LOL,,,Thanx for the input, maybe when I get her built you might have make a trip to texas!!!!!And the will no wearing of viking purple in my house!!!!LOL

Jesper,,The idea bout combining the siding,,consider it done,, I like it [IMG] The longer run from yard sounds good. I was thinking maybe when I get more profeicent with 3rdPlanIt I will try designing a two level layout, where as your concept of two train lenghts between sidings would work. He as I sit typing, I am liking that more and more.

Rob, first things first,,, I have seen your SOO sd-60,,,awesome job!!!! And now to the 64$ comment,,LOL. The staging track in front,,you have a very vaild point,,, I was just wondering how would I bring it up in the back,,,,,, or maybe do I need to go longer and come up fer air,LOL some where else.

One thing guys, The flop plan,,, has no industries yet,, [IMG] . Lemme work on that....Thanx for the comments and ya'll have a great one,,,,,,adios , Wyatt
