This is one very good running Bachmann loco <marquee>North American Rail Alliance</marquee> [ 17 July 2001: Message edited by: Catt ]</p>
I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one that thinks that the Spectrum Dash8's are decent. I have 6 that are highly detailed in NS and CSX. When running them at Ntrak setups I am constantly having to pull one off the track to prove to others that they are not Katos.
You wouldn't have to prove it to me, I believe they are noisy, chunky looking, current drawing rubbish!! The only good one is one running without a motor as a dummy unit in a consist.
I finally get to see one of your lease locomotives, Catt! Is this one of the ones repowered with kato C30-7 drives? That is a nice simple paint scheme, and looks great

After milling the frames down with a bridgeport so the bodies sit lower, and some modifications to the bodies and some details my Dash-8 are certainly NOT chunky.
I think the Bachmann -840 Cs look just fine.If you've ever looked at a real -8 you know they are chunky looking.Only they won't run with ATLAS and KATO units. There things you can do to the B-mann drive to improve it.Like disassemle the trucks and clean out the gallon of lithium grease. The one in the pix had so much grease in the trucks it oozed out all over my(thankfully)unbalasted test track. The electrical pick up leaves alot to be desired too.
