The best of the guides sadly is no longer available. The Paddington Guide is a victim of internet posting of information as well as the fact as it is a lot of work for one brave soul. This include a last trade feature...for example the Illinois car mentioned has never traded above $200 in a NSC auction but it's last trade is $160. That is true for many cars that are well off their highs. Paddington always showed which way the market was trending.

I think this is an excellent time to buy at the right price because many of the rare cars are not getting any younger and more are finding their way out of the box and onto layouts.

Again knowledge from doing your homework is much more important than a fast ebay trigger finger. Allows you to separate quality buys from wishful thinking quickly and easily.

Also a shame that I do not know the exact location of trailer load of LIFELIKE BN SW 1500s....Better than Powerball.

I think you might be right that he has a buddy bidding on items. Every item he has had bids on them. That is almost NEVER heard of, at least from my experience. I have had over 125 items listed at once and I think the most I had bids on at one time was around 20.

To tell the truth, I've been bidding on some of his items and I could see a collector trying to get hard to get items bidding in on these. I've caught myself doing that sometimes. I noticed that around 10% of my bids were with this guy.

The most bizarre are the lighted passenger cars. Maybe he overexposed the shot, but the riders had best be wearing welding masks.

And not to mention that RPO isn't even finished. Besides NP didn't run RPOs on the NCL to my knowledge.

Ha! I noticed that too. For that price, you would expect perfection. But no....

In order for me to consider dropping that kind of coin on a passenger train it would have to be several things.

    1-prestine condition
2-Kato, Intermountain, new Rapido cars, or prototypical etched brass car sides for a proper NCL (which I dont even think all the cars are made).
3-custom painted to the highest quality (which these are NOT)
4-have working diaphragms on the cars
5-have knuckle couplers (these appear to be Rapido couplers)

In other words for what this guy is asking is ridiculous. He is a HIGH as a KITE!

I have noticed that with many items. People are trying to sell trains that are just in ok condition for top dollar and expect someone to buy them for that price. (They wonder why it never sells...)

I hope he meant $467.34 And even then it is definetely a POS not worth more than what the mechanism is worth for parts. I'm no cab forward expert but I see lots wrong with the model to just even get the decent idea or flavor of the loco. Why would anybody pay that, either the stated price, or what I think is a misguided decimal point, when there are excellent new models that are for the most part correct in every detail. Heck I used two of those as fodder for my 2-6-8-0 project and I wouldn't think of asking near anywhere the price which ever one it is if I ever decided to sell it. Which I won't.

He doesn't even toss in free shipping , there's the deal braeker for me. After all, I'd have to do all the running to get a cashiers check for 46 grand..
