I have no way of knowing exactly how many of those were actually made. Dale informed me that they were test cars, and while test cars and flawed cars (that they cought) were destroyed, he obviously kept a couple. There might have been one in Keiths colletion, but I do not know. The prices are set by Dale not me (but I do agree on the prices he put on the tankers). I would assume that potential buyers that had legitimacy related questions would call Kadee to confirm (as many have). I realize the prices are high but I want to keep them that way. I know the MTL collector prices that once existed pre-2001 are gone, but these are cars that I am more than happy to (and probably will), put back in the Safe for 20yrs.

Please don't take any of this the wrong way. I persionally feel that cars are made to run. I know people enjoy collecting them. All that matters is you enjoy this wounderfull hobby. I enjoy using them as they were intended (I'm an HO scaler).

Wish all these guys selling the "collector" cars would realize that the collectors want the cars to be kept in the box...removing them makes them lose value.

One thing I would like to know is where all these collector cars come from? I mean I know where they come from obviouslly but how do the same people happen to get a hold of them? And the amount of collector cars they have listed baffles me! Or is it the same car(s) they keep listing over and over again? If that is the case, one would think they are spending a small fortune on relisting fees. I wish I had just a small percentage of the $$$$ they spend on feebay relisting fees in my bank account.

For the most part they've bought them from other sellers' auctions on eBay
I don't understand what's baffling, the total number cars being offered (5000-7000 by some sellers), or one seller having 3,4,5 as many as 10 of the same model?
An eBay store subscriber with many listings gets charged only 2 cents per listing per month. (above what he's paying for his subscription)

That's actually down quite a ways from its all-time high.

I have one, but it was not bought-- it was a gift from a fellow N Scaler, and it's a treasured part of my accumulation. And it's a "runner."

CWWRMAN, I suspect more often than not, it's multiple listings of the same item, if it's the same seller. (Or the same seller under multiple handles.) eBay does allow a certain number of free listings per month to casual sellers, and relisting can be done pretty quickly, as in a couple of clicks. I don't know what the terms are for heavy duty sellers / eBay stores.

I do somewhat frequently read the description "never removed from box" in the text of a listing which includes a photo of the car out of its box!

Same here. Which causes me to quickly doubt the seller. Either write that description much better, or be honest, it's out of the box!

I could never understand what made any Micro-Train car so valuable that people would pay outrageous prices for them. They're just cars, and by today's detail standards some are not even that good.

7140 is the number that comes with the Microscale decal sheet he used (60-4057). Forty lashes with a wet noodle, but I'm ashamed to admit that I used to take that particular short-cut myself when applying number decals (beats having to do them one tiny number at a time in order to get a correct number).

Unfortunately, it looks like he didn't bother to change the numberboards (which appear to still be 67XX). Now even I'm not that lazy :)

Gotta admit it's a nice looking loco, even if not 100% correct with the #7140. I can't give him a pass on the numberboards though, c'mon they have to match!

    Another great buy!

    Quote from description....
"AS YOU CAN SEE BY THE PICTURES IT IS MISSING THE BODY.
HAS NOT BEEN TESTED, BUT WAS TOLD STILL IN GOOD WORKING CONDITION, JUST NEEDS BODY.
I CANNOT GUARANTEE THAT SINCE I PERSONALLY DID NOT TEST."

    "...DID NOT TEST."

Apparently did not look, either. But it might actually be good for passsing under low bridges.
