Someone might want it. But for much less. Those Matchbox items might be worth a dollar or two, well used. But they're not much of a bonus.
Specially done in Lionel 3-rail collectible number, just for the discerning kollector of such things.
How can this be "new in box" since someone clearly added at least one custom detail (light on top of cab)? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kato-N-Scal...333741?hash=item33ac04e3ed:g:UBMAAOSw~bFWNnn1
Maybe not operated, but certainly modified. Which making that change moves this to a used condition in my mind.
Which means they would not be the original owner. How in heck could they say "New in Box" if they know nothing of the items history? And Blue Label? There's nothing "new" about it.
Yeah, I only looked to see what GP38s might be available, after spending my weekend fixing one that I have. I love that loco, and it isn't too difficult to convert to DCC.
I've kind of decided to take a break from this thread, but this is just too ridiculous. http://www.ebay.com/itm/N-SCALE-COD...143688?hash=item3d0784b908:g:ra0AAOSw~bFWGV63 http://www.ebay.com/itm/TRACK-NAILS...143705?hash=item3d0784b919:g:aqcAAOSwHjNV-AVx http://www.ebay.com/itm/RETIRED-ROA...743240?hash=item280b07a908:g:18wAAOSwPcVVjw~e And there's more where that came from. Seller has earned a spot on the Coveted Ignore List.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Super-Rare-...061250?hash=item3d08591682:g:YV8AAOSwAYtWPnfU I think I will start removing a couple of letters from my MT cars and put them on feebay and I will only charge $350.00
I just looked again at this and can't see any mistake. maybe I am missing something. I just sent this question to the seller. Could they be looking at the build date of new 25 and think this is when the model was supposedly build and not understand it is the prototype data .
got a answer back. They said the number is wrong, is suppose to be 6200 not 6209. I do not know if this is correct or not, but 7 bills as a start price ouch!! But what do I know maybe it will sell tomorrow.
Uh, no. It is not an error. I wonder where their information originated? 6209 was the first road number they ever released for this GN car. 6200 was the second number used. I had both of these years ago, before having Wick Brandon auction off my collection. The 6209 run may have sold out quickly, back forty years ago, as the 6200 was released only a few months later- Possibly a larger run. (George Irwin may know.) Years ago, 6209 was the one which commanded the highest price. As both collecting these and most of their prices have subsided, I wish the seller lots of luck getting that amount. There has been at least a third number of this car done since those days....
Think of the embarrassment and inferiority we'd suffer in front of our friends by operating this second series car bought for $31.95 instead of the original at $700.00. http://www.prestigemodelproductions...07-75-release-with-blue-printed-insert-label/
You're spot on with this as far as I know. I don't know that the 6209 was a "factory error". The third number was 6203. The 6209 remains elusive, however $1200 BIN as a price is rather "20 years ago."
