I would hate to visit this hobby shop. I didn't know a 3pack of these retailed at $120! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Deluxe-Inno...698923?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item417a1e956b I would hate to see the prices on his other stuff.
"Built 1971." I wonder if this person is misinterpreting that as meaning the cars are 40+ years old. Which is of course not even close.
I think he's referring to the build date on the actual cars, looks like "NEW 6-71" to me when I zoom in. Other Buy It Now N Scale items are in the range of MSRP. Maybe he was told the above mentioned SP/WPRR restencil three-pack was a Rare Collectible.
You mean that 'New 6-71' isn't the date the mfr made the model cars? That seems like false advertizing to me.
It does look like the seller is providing the build date as depicted on the models...I checked a few other listings. Most people don't do that and neither do a lot of first-party manufacturers and marketers. It is useful for "buy/don't buy" decisions and, as has been noted before, actually potentially limits prospective buyers. So points for that.
This seller listed this for $100.00, then ended it a few days later. Now has it listed again at $110.00 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Life-Like-N...031355?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item43c347303b Has a few items for a reasonable price though.
This is a nice custom job with a NICE price too! http://www.ebay.com/itm/BNSF-1951-c...237492?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item233357a5f4 Or this one too from the same seller. http://www.ebay.com/itm/BNSF-4757-c...989880?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item23332617f8 But hey................he offers free shipping! Or how about this hopper from the seller. I am sorry but no car is worth $70........unless it is brass or made of 24k gold. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ITGX-11504-...400327?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item2333972b07
I can see getting the asking price for this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/CSXT-228319...960982?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item233362b016 But not for that red hopper! I've consistently watched good weathered cars go for anywhere from $40 to $120 per car, depending on the amount of weathering and the style of car. But as Boxcab said, "most likely too pricey for the greatest number of potential dreamers" His locos are very well done, but his price seems a little steep, even with all the works he done to them, but that's just me. At least he will except Offers. I seen his CSX loco sold with an offer.
A Blair Line yard cafe kit that retails for $39...for $679.95? And you can't say they misplaced the decimal with the .95. At first I thought that this had to be built, but the description says almost nothing. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Blair-Line-...973485?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item4616e7626d
I think I've listed this one before, but it's still for sale: Concor Southern Pacific Bay Window Caboose. From the description: MINT IN BOX BOX ABOUT 6 INCHES LONG WEIGHS ABOUT 2.7 OZ ORIGINAL PRICE STICKER NICE!!!! (original price is $6.49, but for a limited time only $195.00) http://www.ebay.com/itm/JE-CON-COR-...916352?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item564ad8e700
Has anyone asked these delusionals if they'll take Monopoly money as payment for their wonderous offerings?
Am I missing something as to the rarity of this offering? It's not a price listing error, I asked. http://www.ebay.com/itm/INTERMOUNTA...833510?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item485e8b4fa6
It's not WHAT they're smoking George, it's what they're not smoking. Sounds like they're fresh out and they need a quick fix!
