Anyone- I am seeking some information concerning the International & Great Northern RR. By chance does anyone have rule book from the early 1900's they could reference? I have a question their use of signals for following sections. Thanks! BoxcabE50
You might have better luck asking the Mopac list over at Yahoo! Groups. If you don't have a Yahoo ID and don't want to go through the hassle of getting one, I could post your question for you. Dwight
Dwight- I do have an ID. Thought I'd give this Board a try first. I sort of feel like a hit and run driver to sign on for one question. I need to find a rule book circa 1910 for the I&GN. I have a photocopy of a train order that speaks of a train displaying RED signals for a following section. I am familar with white for an extra. And green for following sections. But had never heard of red. Except as used to mark the end of a train. I'd like to know more about the time period of this use. And how it was applied. What is the address over there? BoxcabE50
It's MOPAC@yahoogroups.com. That sounds very strange, though I have heard that railroads here in Texas used to do things different from other parts of the country. Dwight
Dwight- Thanks for the info. I'll check later today. This order certainly seemed different from what I'm used to finding. So made me curious. BoxcabE50
Well, I found the answer. Apparently there were a few companies that used red in earlier years. Reason given being due to the distances red was visible when compared to other colors. I have yet to find the year, but was told that all the RR's standardized prior to WWI. BoxcabE50
