Can someone tell me what kind cars run on Amtrak trains from NY to Montreal? Also, does anyone have a printable version of the Empire Corridor Service timetable? Thanks.
Standard amfleet cars are used on the Adirondack along with a baggage car (with ski racks) and other amenities (like dining car) For a printable version of the Empire Service, go to Amtrak's site: http://www.amtrak.com/trains/empireservice.html Scroll down to the bottom for the timetable. You will however, need Adobe Acrobat to view and print the files. They give a link to a free download of Adobe if you should need it. <img src=http://www.trainboard.com/sigbreak.gif> Russ
The Adirondack, trains 68 & 69, run with an Amfleet Food Service car and Heritage Fleet coaches. There are occassional Amfleet coach substitutions, but the regular consist is the older cars. The bigger windows are great for the scenery. Don't try to ride this week as my employer is doing track repairs and the train is a bus for this week.
Russ, thanks! I need the schedule so I can railfan in my own backyard! I used to be able to walk 3 blocks to see the Amtrak trains that run along the West Side Line but good old Donald Trump messed up that by building over them. Now I have to walk down to 68th st along the new RIVERSIDE BLVD. I haven't had a schedule for number of years so thanks and I'll check that out! Al, thanks for the headsup! My daughter is going in March. Mid-March to be exact. Any trouble brewing then? By the way, how long is that bus ride? (SHUDDER!)
Yuan-Martin, Thank you too. I had to go back and check the spelling of your name. By the way, your name is very cool. Ah, I remember a couple of years ago walking over to watch a scheduled Amtrak train make a run past my neighborhood, and oh wow, it was the GENESIS DEMONSTRATOR on the lead! I had never seen one before and this this was pure silver! I was speechless! of course now we have them on the LIRR and METRO NORTH and I've seen them on Amtrak a whole bunch of times by now. I was in the cab of one at the Metro North's Croton-Harmon Open House two years ago.
