Montana rail Link are currently in negotiations with Union Pacific over trackage rights on the Cheyenne district to run roadrailer service. Union Pacific provided their inpection car so MRL Executives could inspect the district. If negotiations go well MRL are investigating running a high speed roadrailer service. Keep watch for further developments. 1. MRL units 704 and 701 with inspection car cross Centennial yard 2 & 3. Mrl inspection train cross Devils Gate Bridge while AMTRAK Eastern Express awaits crew change 4. MRL inspection train exits Canyon tunnel Stay tuned for further pictures of first trailer service once MRL's final order of impack cars arrive. [ 27. January 2003, 03:27: Message edited by: Colonel ]
Paul, your layout looks wonderful So do those new acquisitions! Last I heard from the builders, was that the Impack cars are painted and about to be lettered
Thats great to know Alan, with 10 spine cars already loaded and 10 impacks with new trailers to be delivered will sure keep those MRL SD35's busy. As soon as the Impacks arrive lookout for some extensive pics that a certain manufacturer maybe keen to display
Man, do I feel sorry for the traffic here. Crew changes can sometimes take hours, and the engineer wasn't even nice enough to stop before the crossing! Excellent photos Paul, and keep up the good modeling.
Great photos Paul! i also wondered about the motorist waiting for the train to change crews, hope hes a railfan!
Well luckily for the road traffic, crew changes on the Cheyenne Division is done very fast with crews arriving before the tabled train does . Thats the beauty of model railroading you can do it the way it should be done
The Impack car destined for the Cheyanne District is out of the painshop and on test on the AWRR! Just happened to be around the property to catch these photos Had to stand a long way back to get all ten units in! With some trailers loaded Close up of the end units They are now going to the docks to be shipped down under
Excellent looking train Alan it's great to be able to see the impacks on test before being shipped to the Cheyenne Division You were lucky to be in the area while the trials were being carried out. Once the impack cars arrive there will be further trials to which i'm sure I will be able to take some pics
The Impack cars arrived today and are currently undergoing trials on the Cheyenne division. I hope to be able to post some pics on the weekend
Montana Rail has operated it's first intermodal train through the Cheyenne Division. Management is happy with the new agreement and this train is now a regular through run to the west coast. [ 14. February 2003, 22:08: Message edited by: Colonel ]
Paul, Excellent photos. How do you like the impack cars? They look great! Of course, Alan always makes great stuff. May have to see about putting some in this years budget. May be a while though with the expected arrival of SD70MACs. Oh well.
Richard, I must say I am very pleased with their looks and performance. I did have a couple of track alingment problems that effected the low profile wheels but once I corrected that the train has run perfectly. I may but a impack kit later in the year and have a go at assembling my own. I am currently assembling some log cars which have proven very easy.
