They're off to a fun summer, (not), with a derailment Austin, northwest of Helena. Good news for those who will be coming to Montana for some train chasing, late this summer- MRL ordered two more sd70aces last week. They'll be built in Mexico City and delivered in August. They'll be numbered 4400 and 4401 since they are different enough from the 4300s. They'll be assigned to the LM/ML trains.
I don't know. Could simply be economics. Could be to replace some other aging power. This information was straight out of company HQ in Missoula.
