It's already been 25 years. Where did the time go? On this past Friday, MRL ran two employee specials out of Missoula and on Saturday, two out of Helena. I was able to chase the first run on Friday:

Doesn't seam like it has been 25 years. Have they updated their logo to a red circle? Never seen that before. Got to ride in one of their chop nose SD9's back in the late 1990's when they tried I&M Raillink in Illinois. Sadly, that line did not prosper. It is now ICE.

The 'red ball' is part of their most recent scheme.

    Ken,
Great shots , the passenger cars are really great. When I first moved here I figured MRL was justd another run of the mill short line ... not so eh ?

Definitely not so. They do a pretty good job of keeping things in shape, etc.

I am really surprised so little response here to an important milestone in MRL history. But I was also surprised by the very light turnout of chasers last Friday. Just a mere hand full of people seen on the first run. And later that afternoon, following the line home, did not see anyone stationed trackside for the return run of trip #2. Seems kind of odd.
