I have not done this type locomotive, but I can give you a few places to go for information. Digitrax recomends a DZ123 or DZ143 type decoder for this engine. You might also be able to put on of those real small LENZ decoders in there also. Go to www.aztectrains.com for getting your engine frame milled for space to install a decoder. This website also has information about decoder installation. Another website is www.sodigi.com this website is for Southern Digital, this place has various digitall ready frames also. Good Luck! Getting decoders in some of these engine can be a real pain in the a@#.
Mike: I use the Digitrax DZ 143 on many steam installations. It is a great decoder. As I started before it has BEMF, which allows your loco to have a constant speed up and down grades. The BEMF is programmable so if you don't want to use that feature, you can disable it.
Mike, the Zimo MX62 is as small as the Digitrax, also has BEMF that is three way adjustable, high frequency drive (40kHz) and non-linear momentum. You may get a better idea of what the different brands offer if you download their manuals. Regards, Art http://www.mrsonline.net/
