    yet another newbie-ish question for the masses. what kinds of new boxcars are in use today. i know i see stuff that appears to be 25-40 years old sitting on sidings occasionally, but what kinds of boxcars are now in production?? any kind of models out there that reflect this prototype?? thanks for the info. ya'll!!!!

    I see lots of 'Railbox' boxcars with TBOX reporting marks that were built in the last 4 years...
    Sure, there's not copious amounts of new boxcars being built.. That honor belongs to coal gons, intermodal platforms and autoracks. But, there are new boxcars being built.

    Being a big fan of boxcars I can safely say that there are new boxcars being built.The 50 double door and 60' auto parts and news print boxcars seems to the new choice in boxcars.As you noticed there is a lot of the older 50' FMC 5347s and PS 5344s still roaming the rails..The boxcar is far from being dead.
