Remember the old magazine and newspaper column Hints from Heloise? Well here is a Hint from Hello What? as I shall call myself. Having recently came into possesion of a Kato Mike and it's famous detail parts sprue, and having aged considerably since the last time I dealt with one, and after launching a part or two into low earth orbit, I decided there had to be a better way to hold onto slippery delrin with surgical steel fine pointed tweezers.

Bullfrog Snot to the rescue and yet another use for the product. I dipped a couple of pairs of the tweezers, about 3/8 inch of the tips into the Bullfrog Snot and then removed the excess so that a fine layer remained. Took a break and read a book chapter while it cured. What an improvement on holding on to those slippery parts. If I had thought of this back years ago I would probably saved enough to buy another steamer what with all the parts I have launched over the years and never recovered.

So folks feel free to add to this thread those modifications of tools that have improved your lot.

Hmmm. Where were you the last time I had a small part disappear into orbit? This seems like a really good idea!

Well it worked quite well for a change considering the misfortunes I have encountered the last couple of weeks. I managed to successfully get all the staunchions on the Mike, only lost the one before I came up with the idea. And it even provided enough grip to grab the handrail and slide it in the staunchions to line it up with the final one on the smokebox. Nice thing is a single edge razor blade can scrape the Snot off and it can be easily recoated if it gets ragged.
