Onthe recent thread on the EMD MP15AC there was a reference to UP's unique SW10 rebuilds.

There is a good photo reference page here. The
dark red numbers on the roster list are live links to a photo of that unit. I am not sure but I think these are being renumbered into the "UPY" series and may now be in a different number series

Here is the info on the recent RMC article

15 of these units have been transferred to a shortline in Mexico, Ferromex ( FXE ), in which UP has a minority ownership. See these pages:

Another photo roster is here, from the Nor-Cal

I've heard that CP Rail is leasing some of these units from UP but have no details on that

I believe I have seen these referred to as "a switcher with a headache" [IMG]

It would make a good "different" model.

As with the MP15AC, I would love to try to scratchbiuld one of these someday. I believe there is only one SW10 left on the roster. It is now #96. Dunno the previous number. I havn't seen any reference to renumbering it in the 'Y' series.

I fully intend to do a couple of these little beasties though they won't be painted for the UP.

Paul don't worry the layout comes first. :D :D They will be painted in the blue and yellow of the GVR :D

Thanks Scott. Good info. Well I believe then that all the others have been gotten rid of as none of my sources currently list them being on the roster.
