Recently, I came across a few M/T NdeM boxcars at a good price. These are some neat looking cars. Makes me want to add some more cars from south of the boarder roads to my fleet. Does anyone else here model the Mexican roads or have suggestions about modeling their equipment?

I work in the U of A Library, Cataloging Dpet, and this new book came in. Unfortuneately, I have'nt the title and such, but it was an awesoem read. About the Mining operations down there, and it looks very much like a model railroad operation.

They even have these DDM45s, which look like GP45s with DD tucks under them. and they have a similar diesel that is the -9 with a pair of B Trucks under each end. How I wish I had the book. I might be able to find it gain, it might already be off to main Processing.

If someone knows or finds this one, it will be a great asset.

Great news!!! I found the book in our "Special Cases" Rack. Which means that this book won't get to the shelves for a long time.

The biggest problem is that it is in Spanish. The Good news is that the captions under all the Photos are in English and Spanih, so you can see both styles of designations.

    "A E. F. Vitoria A Minas: e as locomotivas a vapor: memoria de trem"
By Eduardo JJ Coelho & Joao Bosco Setti

The plus sides of this book: The entire book makes for an excellent slide show of a mining region in Mexico that ends at a seaport where they have a large trestle on a cliff face(like what you see on layouts) that transfers the ore onto ships.

This book has a section that details practically EVERY single piece of rolling stock and Locomotive from 1904 to date. There are some great pictures of DDM$%s, which are some pretty mean looking machines. And so are the -8 reg cab and -9 wide cabs on double B Trucks.

Only Negative: The Main body text is all in Spanish. But if you live in the Southwest, you might as well learn it and pride yourself in being and American who can speak two Languages.

Well, enjoy the read. I hope you can find the book. It says volume One on it, so it is possibly part of a set, could be a large set, about possibly railroad operations in Mexico and who knows where else.

I sure would like to have a copy of that book. I don't model NdeM yet, but I have a few of the M/T boxcars and am definitely interested. Where else can I stick all those old Alcos?

WEll, now that may explain why I had some problems reading the Spanish!!!

But the parts that we are all most interested in have captions in English too. And yes, It is a good book...I spent a good half hour sneak reading it at work when i wasn't busy last week. I only wish I knew if the other volumes are like ths one. If they are, I might have to write this one down as a set to purchase in the near future.

Well, That should do it. Anyone interested in Small Steam will love this book.

Heres the review, incase you don;t speak Portuguese. I know, it is a rough translation, but for spending exactly 3/10 a second doing it on Altavists, I get the main idea of the passage much quicker then using the old dictionary.

Hey Bob P., HELP!?! Sorry to drag up an old topic but I am still trying to find a copy of this book. Apparently, it is not to easy to get here. My question is, can you tell me who the publisher is? I recently had to do some dealings with a work counterpart in Brazil. He said he could probably get this book for me if I could tell him who the publisher is. Any help you can provide would be great! Thanks.
