Local passenger hauled by geep rear ended by another train, engine stayed on rails but cars piled up behind, when you run DCC check the yard track you are running through is empty.

This is the first one I've had on my home layout. Never step out of the room for even 30 seconds even after it has been running for 10 minutes flawlessly.

And these are from a year ago at the open house for the private layout I help out at.

Here's one of mine. I was taking pictures with this section of my layout outside (to get natural sunlight) when a sudden gust of wind took out my train. After lots of profanity and screaming I went back and took a look at the photos. Nothing was broken orther than a smoke stack from the semi below and in the end it made for a good pic as stuff was caught in mid air.

 Never considered taking a picture. Believe I'd be too embarrassed to capture the moment. :tb-wacky: After all, it's my fault...

Now this is an incredible photo, reminds me of the video when the grain car flips over beside the guy standing near the track filming.

This is an old picture if a crash on an earlier layout. It looks like it was taken with my Kodak Brownie from 1962!

I had a huge 60-car crash on my present layout, but can't find it.

Wow I hope the semi driver and the people in the tan car were alright!! Good photos everyone. Now to stage some Corman side-boom Caterpillars next to the track for a shot of the cleanup. Got to get those mainlines open people, we're losing money!!

Here's the result of running a 100car coal train with mid-train DPUs and not watching your train.
the lead units uncoupled. The Mid-Train units pushed until they derailed a car and locked it up against a bridge sending the mid trains on the ground.
Meantime, back at the ranch, the lead units made their way around the layout, finding Fred stopped on the tracks ahead of them, they slept right through the pile up.
At that moment some one said "stop all trains" just as an E-L passenger train arrived.
Notice the coal car "Tee Pee"
Pic 1 are the mid train units
Pic 2 are the lead units
pic 3 is the pile up.
Only one car hit the carpet with the obligatory coupler sproing being the only damage.
although there was a slightly damaged ego also.

I would love it if you could get those in N or HO! I recently got up close to some of them when Corman was cleaning up a big CSX wreck near here. They brought in four complete packages for the cleanup, plus a lot of support vehicles. Three packages left after less than a week but the fourth stayed on the job for an entire month.

I'm sure there are models available of D7s or D8s that can be kitbashed. Just remember, a 'package' typically consists of a D8 (583) sideboom, a D7 (573) sideboom, and a 977 loader. Be sure to place lots of tools hanging on makeshift hooks all over the machine. A set of aceteline tanks are hung next to the radiator on the right side of the machine. The counterweight and hoist machinery are on the right side of the machine and the boom is hung at two points on the left track frame.

Hey, waitaminit- that was on CNN the other day!! Nice catch of everything mid-catastrophe (if that's any consolation).
