I noticed the past couple days that SRO is down. That is another board (don't get me wrong, this is my home board.. ) I am on. I know it has had allot of issues with activity lately, and now seems to be down, and have been hearing that is was going away. I am wondering if there are any of my old SRO friends here on Trainboard? I went by "Gandy-Dancer" on that board.. I hope Trainboard picks up the guys from over there..
Thats what I heard Pud. But I also heard he was running into issues on the new design, then a few in chat mentioned that the site was going away all together. Just wondering if it's gone for good, or what was going on. Have some good on line friends there I would like to keep in contact with..
He reported on NScale.net last month that his main development laptop failed and put a hitch in the upgrade, and the site is suffering a resultant drop in viewership/membership. I don't think he's given up on it but if the members wander off it will die anyway. That would be sad. SRO is/was a nice board with good members. I hope it survives.
From what I understand, Steve was going to close it down. It was not worth the costs considering the participation from the members. As for the members, they are scattered about through out the popular forums.
Steve, I hated seeing the site go away. Made some good friends there. But, at the same time, understand why. Hope to see you around on this site, and others.
Hey Steve; well; the ol' girl had a great run and you deserve a ton of credit for having one of the premier sites around. And I will never forget you're incredible generousity of coming to meet me in Aniheim and taking me to LA for train shopping even though you were awaiting the passing of a family member.... you're a class act through and through......a damn fine modeler and a good friend.
