Hello Railroaders, Still learning (reading... I'm a glutten for the technical theory) and trying to figure out wants and needs before I dive into DCC. I think I've got it down to 2 or 3 brands of DCC manufacturer, but still have some questions about decoders. Does anybody make a mobile decoder WITH sound for N scale and is it recommended (sound quality)? I'll be using both steam and diesel. Thanks, Chuck - sagelake
I have had the MRC Brilliance N Scale decoders on order from Tony's since February, but they have not shipped yet. There is another manufacturer that makes the N Scale sounde decoder, which are in stock at Tony's, but the name escapes me at the moment. -Robert
Thank You pray59, I was not sure if one was even made yet for N scale, but I see now that there is! I'll check out Tonys and probably get on the waiting list too. Thanks, Chuck
loksound: http://www.tonystrains.com/products/esu.htm http://www.litchfieldstation.com/esu/html/loksoundmirco.html word is Soundtraxx is thinking about/working on a smaller sized Tsunami that will fit N scale.
You can use Soundtraxx DSX sound only decoders. They can be placed under the benchwork or in N scale 50 foot boxcars. The sound is very convincing. I've been using them on the JJJ&E for almost seven years. Stay cool and run steam......
Thanks for the info guys, Sorry soo late in replying, we're getting ready for an extended trip...will still be read forum though (wherever there is internet as we travel). I have already told Bob that when we return, I'll be ordering a Lenz system and will be needing decoders, so please bear with me with the stupid questions (I've always been told that the stupid questions were the ones NOT asked!).
