    Good day folks,
It may look silly for you but i live in Europe, and for me is something i really do not know.
Is it possible to MU an ALCO with an EMD diesel?
In the specific, an ALCO FA, and a F7B?
In Europe we can not MU different types of diesel locomotives (or electric for that matter), until a few years ago when a standard digital system was introduced by the UIC.
Maybe in the US is different.
    Thank you.

If you have DCC and they are speed matched you should be able to lash them up.

Yes, most North American diesels of different manufacturers could be MU'd, EMD, GE, Alco. There were some exceptions though, like Baldwin's use of a pneumatic throttle prevented MU'ing with manufacturers using the common electric throttles. Baldwin may have fixed this later on. I think F-M too had some idiosyncrasies, but F-M fixed things early on and F-Ms were then able to be MU'd with other manufacturers.
