Milwaukee Road had a (wooden) tower there, which was named "Delmar". If my memory is correct, they crossed the NYC.
Passenger trains have always been impressive for me, when photographed sweeping around a curve such as seen here.
The MP had a series of corrugated side gons similar to the red one shown above, but they were black with white grab irons. The NdeM owed the MP millions in horsepower hours and car hire, but didn't have the money or engines to pay it back, so they worked out a deal where the MP got a series of gons, new, that had been an NdeM order. The gons were painted in NdeM colors, black with white grab irons, but had all MP lettering.
The other interesting remanent of the MP that you can see today is watching for UP reefers. They are lettered ARMN. The UP had PFE (Pacific Fruit Express) jointly owned with the SP. The MP had ART (American Refrigerator Transit) jointly owned with the WAB/NW. The MP bought out the N&W portion so ART was wholly owned by MP. The PFE was split into the UPFE and SPFE and when the UP began getting new reefers they started lettering them with the ARxx initials from the ART rather than use the xPFE initials that were involved in the splitting of PFE.
