Haven't heard from you in a while. If still interested, I should finally have access to my blueprints of the Nooksack Line soon. Then I can give a better idea of where the rails once were versus the current State Road.

I now have the blueprints. There are three sheets in 1" equals 400' scale. Which they normally used on what was referred to as a "Right of Way Map." Coverage is the entire line from Goshen Junction to Kulshan. Plus it shows several logging lines that connected.

Will need to study them a little bit. To figure out how best I can describe where the line was in relation to more recent roads. Will need to find my Whatcom County road map as well.

Boy. The next time we are up in Bellingham I know who to visit. That is my home town for the first 17 years of my life.

Any chance you can make a copy, boxcab? I think Kinkos can do that sort of thihng and I'll gladly pay the costs involved. Failing that I can mail you a map of the county and we can go from there.

    Dick-

Unfortunately, I am no longer in the area. I did spend the best part of my first 48 years in the vicinity. My last visit to the Milw in the Bellingham area, was just a couple of days before shutdown. :( Very sad.

We don't have a Kinko's in this area. :( I know that there is at least one outfit supposedly able to make copies. But no clue as to cost. I know it would be more than Kinko's. If even possible. Will need to get some time, and go see who has a copier, and show them what I have. See what they say.

Please keep in mind that these are a second generation copy. The prints that I was able to make mine from, were the 1st copy of an original linen. From the Engineering Department files in the Tacoma Freight House. (Which probably is all rotting in the Frederickson dump today. ) Anyhow, if a semi-decent copy can be made, some of the small details will likely be lost or be quite faint.

In the same box is a copy of the Lands, Tracks & Structures (1"=100' scale) for Glacier. This one I know is not copyable. It's from poor condition white line on blue copy.

Also, I wondered where it was, is my print LT&S of Sumas. Which clearly shows that the Milw owned as much as 551.3' of track into Canada. Plus apparently a couple switches and small connections. One reaches back over to the NP.

And something else that I'd not noticed before. It looks like they had trackage rights to the BCH interchange over CPR. About 1600' further to get there. Although I don't know if they actually ever used this.

Looking over these old blueprints can be an adventure.

    BN9900, cthippo-

I've *possibly* located a place that will look at running of copies of my prints. As yet I have no idea of any cost. If they'll actually do it.

Hopefully, this coming week will not be as filled with other stuff that must be done first. Will try and get to that shop. See what they say. Sure would be nice to have a Kinko's or someplace similar that is equipped for RR history fans!

Ok great. We really appreciate it. We were just discussing Milwaukee Road routes last thursday at the train club. I live just a stones throw from where the Milwaukee used to run through Kendall, and we're planning to go out and see what we can find of the rest of the line.

It appears that I have exhausted all possibilities in my area. I did finally locate one outfit that said they could do it. So I had them make a copy of each, (three sheets), plus burn a CD-ROM.

What I received back, was a joke. The copies were blurry, black messes. The CD-ROM files were all corrupted. Cost me well over $40.00. Ended up with nothing. [IMG]

Needless to say, I was rather depressed about this end result.
