Has anyone ever seen builders photos of Milwaukee Road SD7's number 2209, 2210, 2211? I would like to see a close up for either or both pilot ends from any one of these units when they were brand new? Boxcab E50
Apart from the application of ditch lights and the removal of the foot-boards, I don't suppose that the pilots would have changed that much. From what I can find: 2207 was renumbered 507 and then 547 (probably after being chopped and converted to an SD10). It ended up as DME 547. Here is a photo of 507 before it was chopped and turned into an SD10. 2208 became 508 and then 558. It ended up as DM&E 558 2209 became 509 and then 534. It ended up as SOO 534 and then as CPRS 534 Some of the DM&E SD10's went to Indiana Railroad. Don't know which numbers.
Here is a photo of 514 (also an SD7) taken by Roger Mueller in Mankato, MN (06-27-1976) before the plow was applied. Note the foot-boards and what looks like a bar for the guy riding the foot-board to hold onto. The second one is a photo of 518 taken in June 1965 by Roger Mueller in Mankato, MN. In the background you can see the Mankato, MN depot. On the right had side, you can see a part of the old bridge that crossed the Minnesota River. The third photo is of 518 switching Mankato, MN in June 1965. Also taken by Roger Mueller. I have another indistinct photo of 535 showing the rear pilot and that looks similar to the front pilots of these two above. That photo was also taken in 1965. Note the exhaust silencers/spark arrestors (?) on the exhaust of the engine.
