Interested in any information (text or images) of the St. Maries, ID - Elk River, ID branch. Not much real usable info in cyberspace these days, any help would be appreciated...
You are correct. There is not a lot gathered in any one place. Except, the best I have ever seen: Milwaukee Road Historical Association- "The Milwaukee Railroader", V42, #1,2,3 of 2012. Go to www.mrha.com, Company Store. Otherwise it is mostly one photo here, another there. Strauss Volume 2 of his series on MILW diesels- Page 92, top. Ignore caption as it is incorrect. I believe there is a photo in Charles Wood's book of a Mallet at Elk River by the depot. CTC Board Magazine of November, 1986. But that is an article on successor operation the St. Maries River RR, with some mention of the MILW.
If you look under "the St. Maries River RR" there are some pictures (and video) of some of the trackage, and some of the old MR equipment. They operate over the MR branchline using some old MR equipment. Maybe not exactly what you want, but as Boxcab says, info on the MR branchline is pretty sparse.
