I am assembling a truck mounted excavator (back hoe) to represent Milwaukee Road MOW equipment. Was there a usual paint color used on this type of vehicle?
Good question. I can't remember seeing a back hoe. The two primary colors used were yellow. And black. By "truck mounted" do you mean on a rubber tired vehicle? "Trucks" were generally black. Boxcab E50
Ya, most of the trucks and MOW equipment I've seen in books are black and they usually leave the dozers, cranes, and such, in the factory colors. After 1980 or so, they started to get red painted hi-rail trucks and larger up until the Soo merger.
