I wish they would announce them in N.

But then maybe not, as I am gearing up to scratchbuild a set.

    Cheers

You are not alone. I wish for them. Long for them. Sure miss the real thing! Would love to recreate my own miniature world with some of these unique creatures!

Should be doable. I have 3 donor MicroAce Engines, 2-4-4-2 that shoulbe be pretty easy to be converted to 4-4-4-0.

I will need to scratchbuild one body and then cast duplicates. The recent article in the N-Scale magazine on the Krauss Maffeis was a good lead on this.

    Cheers

Many years ago, there was a chassis that was very close. A company named Shinano. But they went under about the time I discovered them. :( And there were brass flat etched kits out of California. But their price was a wee bit high for me. And without that appropriate chassis, ..... So, I wait for the talk of many years, to become reality...... Maybe some day....

    Boxcab,
do you have any contact info for the Brass kits?
Actually the MicroAces were cheap! I paid about 3.500 Yen for them, roughly 35 US$. The expensive part is getting to Japan first.

    Kurt,
Z? Wow, that would be challenging. But laser-cutting the sides would be a good start.....

The boxcab kits were flat, etched brass. Made by Porthole Productions. (Bob Fabris.) Out of California. Stopped making them long, long ago.

I think they were about $50.00 per boxcab 20-25 years ago. Who knows what they'd be today, if he still made them? By the time you had a four unit (EF5) set of motors together, there could be a lot of $$$ invested.

    Wow, that is indeed expensive.
Never heard of them, never even on EBay.

So back to the drawing board....

Yes. They were pricey. And I'm sure that severely limited sales. Plus, you had to find someone who could get the chassis, while traveling through Japan. Nobody imported them that I ever could locate.

I did know one fellow who had some of these. Built up. He's passed away. And I cannot track down his stuff.
