Trying to find out if any MILW U30Bs made it on the SOO roster, or were they all disposed of prior to merger? Seems there were three that might have been on the SOO's books, but not put into service. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, BILL ------------------ ship SOO!
Yes there were three 4 axle ex-Milwaukee units listed at the buy-out date, but they were the U23B model. The numbering system changed a few times for most of the GE units, so I'll use the most recent. Of the five U23B units, two of them: # 5001 and 5002 went to Chrome Crankshaft in 1983 and were scrapped (note: before the buy-out). The last 3 of the original order, # 5000, 5003 and 5004 went to GE/Erie in May 1989 and were scrapped. Hope this helps. The Chief ------------------ .......MILWAUKEE........ "The Resourceful Road"
