Did anyone see RailModel Journal for October? Check out the current issue! Milw HO layout. I know him. Used to be there frequently. It's a spectacular plan. And operates great. Lenz DCC. Those scenes look just like the real places I knew!

Ken you must be talking about Doug Neiswongher's layout. Yes it is a great plan and fun to operate. I enjoy switching Tideflats yard the most more than running trains. I have been trying to get back there as Doug is thinking about ripping out the layout and building a midwestern grainer layout.

Sounds like a Lines West layout, in the Coast Division--any more data, Ken? Might be worth finding this issue...

Yup. Doug's layout. I remember it when there were just a few 1 by 4s starting to go up. The layout has actually been at least two magazines. Once in RMJ, once in MR.

Be a shame for it to go away. :eek:mg: What theme is he thinking of, from the midwest? He's got roots in eatsern Kansas. Will it be non-Milw? Big company such as AT&SF? Or small one such as Midland Valley?

I guess that all good things must end.

I think IIRC from the last time I was over there, he was sounding like it would be the KATY. Was the layout complete last time you were there Ken? If it wasnt I can get you photos and send them to you.

    Hey Ken,
Is the journal slow getting out? I subscribed two months ago and still haven't got it yet!! Hope it gets here for me to see this. My local hobby shop stopped getting it as I was the only one who bought it.

    Ryan-

    KATY? Interesting. What era?

My last visit, was winter of 1999. Scenery was well under way. but not at all finished. Since then, Doug did send me some pictures. But that was 3-4 years ago(?) And the magazine articles.

    Hiya, Andy!

I don't subscribe to RMJ. Just pick up an interesting issue at a hobby shop. Now and then.... So really can't say how long they take.

Whereya been lately? How about a layout progress report?

    Ken,
I have been out here, not just saying much. I will give you a report on the layout in about a week, I should have Tunnel City finished by then!I also have been spending time on my other forum, they even let me open a Milwaukee Road section there, even though I am the only one on it!! LOL

    Ken,
Just got an e-mail from Doug and I will be operating his layout tonight. I will try to find out more info on his plans with the layout. Would you like me to say HI for you?

Who all is in the crew these days? From what I heard, seems like after a couple of years, it was mostly new faces.

Yes. Would be curious to what his plans are. Seems kind of sad. After so many years of planning, and building, to have it all come down. A bit of burnout?
