I'm trying to model a MILW 600-series coach. Question re the roof - RMC plan some years ago shows illustration of roof with 11 small ribs superimposed on the smooth roof surface. Several color photos I've seen seem to indicate that these cars actually have smooth roofs; were the roofs rebuilt to remove ribs? James E. Bradley Hawk Mountain Chapter N.R.H.S.
James- I don't have enough photography collected to research car roof layout. However, if I recall correctly, about the time the Milw signed on with UP for the Cities trains, they did alter some cars to be used in that service. (Work done 1956? Or possibly late 1955?) Was it interior? Exterior? Cosmetic? So it's certainly possible that removal of the ribs was amongst any changes. Sorry that this isn't much help. Boxcab E50
