Sad news: Mike Chase, an enthusiastic N-scale modeler known around the Phoenix area, passed away June 2 from complications of a massive stroke he suffered in early February. Mike was known for his friendly enthusiasm, and was a member of the Sun-N-Sand club in Scottsdale. He will be missed by all who knew him. Mike enjoyed several visits running trains over the Arizona Divide during happier days, and an industry on my previous layout had been named in his honor.
Awww ! I am so sorry and sad by this terrible loss, not knowing him, it is still a tragedy for family and friends. In the picture he looks fairly young, so it is even more difficult to understand why these losses confront us. I am sure that the entire Trainboard community sends its condolenses and prayers with gods blessing to re-enforce. If there will be some kind of donations or sending of flowers by all of us, please post where we can send to. Again, my sincereist condolenses, may God Bless. fatalxsunrider43
He looks so young for this to have happened. Very sad. Is that his layout in the top photo? It looks really nice. It would be interesting to see more... Boxcab E50
Is Trainboard going to send some flowers or something ?????? It would ONLY be right to do so, and everyone should contribute something ! The more members that contribute, the less each would have to put in on it, and still be able to send a nice arrangement for the service. Head Moderators should be posting something about this soon I would think. fatalxsunrider43
Thanks, guys. If I can, I will pass along your sentiments to Mike's wife as well. Boxcab E50, that was my layout in the picture, taken in 2004 or 2005. The layout was dismantled in 2006 and I am now modeling in On30, but you can see more of my N scale layout on my website. Just follow the Arizona Divide link.
I'm saddened to hear of Mike's passing. I ran into him a couple of times and we chatted a bit. My condolences to his family; he was far too young.
