Fantastic finish and detail. This is going to be nasty for those who will want to strip it and paint it black. Mark
Hi Gerd, you won't have to wait long - probably about 3 to 4 weeks away for something in black. All road names are in country, but since this is a new release, we want to test each one before it goes out the door. So the limiting factor is how long it takes Rob K to test each road name *and* if we find any significant problems with them (I really hope not, but it has happened before) so far this production run looks good, but steam engines are much more complex to build than diesels. Thanks for the kind words, -Rob(A) AZL
I like it! Unfortunately I won't be able to attend the NTS so I'll have to wait a touch longer. But at least I know they are here!
Rob K. should bring what he doesn't get tested with him to the NTS and we'll be happy to test them on the Z scale modular layout.
Rob A, Any idea how far out the heavy Mikados are? The lights are pretty, but the heavy will be easier to modify into Pennsy L1. I'm getting my dremmel and razor saw ready. Dan S.
It would be very nice to be able to buy parts for these. Tender trucks, boiler body shells, pilots, etc... They look great!
Argh! You know, your try to raise your babies right: You make sure the conception is perfect, the birth goes smoothly, teach them good manners, give them a pretty coat of paint, make sure all the details are correct, and what happens? They leave home only to move in with some other kid from the wrong side of the tracks tho just wants to strip them!
That's why you should have released the USRA black generic at the same time as the painted lady, sadly her makeup is going to run! :screwy: Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
As anticlimatic as it would be after all the work you've done on this or any other new product, but maybe the first released should be unpainted/undecorated units. After all, some kids are just meant to grow up and becomes strippers. Mark
I've never understood why manufacturers are overly concerned about releasing undecs to begin with. They will sell because many modelers won't be able to find their favorite road name no matter how many are released, and stripping a perfectly good paint scheme is a task that no one relishes. Just don't make too many undecs.......it's quite simple I should think?
Can you imagine the story for the release: "The last time Hans visited the factory, he took along a big suitcase, a VERY BIG suitcase. As a result we can offer the Pre-release light mikado. Since these were aquired prior to the paint shop, they will be available without decoration and only in black. Pre-order now to get these limited edition locomotives while they last. Not available in stores or New Jersey. Limited to stock on hand. Remember Han's suitcase is only so big. Watch for the worldwide release of the ligh Mikado with Southern Railroad at NTS next week." :teeth:
Hey Mark, NEW JERSEY????!!! Some of us actually live in the Garden State. Also, as hard as it may be for some to believe, there are some (myself included) who are happy to see a good paint job not wasted on stripping. Mine is already ordered. John
