That looks pretty cool. It says you can design your own tracks and trains... you could put your home layout into it and be an engineer on your own line!

I was looking for some requirments, but can't find any. Does anyone know if this will run on Windows 2000 or not. I installed 2000 about 6 month ago, and haven't had any games installed since (I believe ot have read somewhere that W2K do not support games), but it sure would be nice if this one will run on my computer, then I don't have to build my own layout :)

I am sure it would work okay on 2000.

    jkristia,

Of course you need to build your own layout. We're not going to let you off that easy! :D

Here's an excerpt from Trainsim UK, formerly known as Vern's Rail Pages:

A quick word about hardware requirements. MS have stated provisionally the simulation should run on a P266 with a 4Mb graphics card and 32Mb of memory. However they emphasised that is not set in stone and may change with the final release. I saw the pre-beta running on a PIII 800 with 32Mb Geforce card (more or less same as my system) and it was running in 1280 x 1024 with a very smooth frame rate, even in built up urban areas.

I think the problem with games in Win2K is (has been?) mainly graphics driver support. I'm pretty sure that most card manufacturers have Win2K dirvers now.

Would not surprise me if the MS Train Simulator wouldn't run in Windows 2000. I was given Windows ME for Christmas last year. What a piece of JUNK. Complete computer crash. Nothing was compatable with ME. I went back to Windows 98 SE, got rid of ME!

I am very happy with Windows ME. I use it on my own computers and at work for professional applications.

This machine I am using right now has win ME but will soon be updated to Win2K (as soon as ATI comes out with the graphics card patch for this machine).

YOU CAN run games with Win 2000, in fact me and friend at school used to play Tribes, Unreal Turnment, Age of Empires, Red Alert 2, and Half-Life network games against each other over the school network when we had free time and noone need to use the class network. MS has already stated that MSTS WILL run on win 2K. as well as 95,98,ME,NT4 and XP when it comes out. Only when Win2K first came out was game support not really avalable. now all you have to do is download a few patches (and in some cases none at all) and you can play ALMOST any game out there (EA and Lucasarts games still wont run on Win2K). I personally think Win 2K Pro is one of MS's best OS's.
