I have, and its ridiculous. Maybe im old school, but how do they figure this stuff is worth that much.
You are about to get the usual replies as to why: The price of plastic has quadrupled. Building rent is astronomical ! The price of tooling has increased 5 fold. Labor has doubled. Shipping has increased 10X. Someone bought a new house and their house payments have doubled. Mommy wanted a new car. The list will go on...and on...and on...and on...and on...
Yeah, a couple of those along with my Santa Fe 5-pack and I'll have a real train to pull with my 4 FT units. Starting to understand how the real railroads went bankrupt.
It wasnt necessarily a slap at MT. Everytime anyone mentions the prices on anything from anybody we always hear at least one of the replies I posted. Also...there where a couple of tongue in cheek replies...Just sayin !
Yeah - even with the reefers. I have over 50 PFE reefers. Both wood and steel sided. So, I really don't "need" any more of them. with that said, they are very very cool!! Wolf
And have you REALLY looked at the cars, they are saving me buying decals and time to do it........(Wheel inspection, ACI, Lube plate)....
from the outside it seems a lot, but when you actually have to do it, it's never enough. Trust me, considering the work to get one of these out, you are getting a good bargain for the price paid. 60 plus employees in Oregon making a living wage and full benefits plus 401k's. (and we are generally having a great time making cars for you guys)
Hey Joe, Well said. Just wondering if you know what class (R-30-?) the PFE Reefers will be? I guess you could walk over and ask Susan (Daly), she'd probably know. If you do, please mention that Mike Madonna said "Hi".... Thanks!
So okay I've been buying MT's since the 70's...they actually made my decision to change scales from HO to N much easier. So I'm only kinda complaining here....was TOTALLY JUMPING UP AND DOWN WITH JOY TO SEE A B&O covered hopper FINALLY released....NO decals in N for this car....Got it in the mail from Pete at BLW....(love those guys) ANYWAY...Looked in my B&O Equipment Guide......and BAM!!!!!! Wrong top hatches.....I'm not TO much of a rivet counter, but REALLY?????? I'm going to try and put the six 20" round hatches it should have on it rather the long trough hatch that it comes with...So I'm just kinda complaining....
yeah, the correct car would have been the 603xxx series but the rib side count is not the same. I can scare up some hatches if you are needing to correct the car. Joe
