Why don't the moguls that MT made appear on the micro-trains web sites data base? I mean they did make them, so they should be in the data base. I have checked the web site, no big deal, just kinda interesting really.

I wonder why they never did a second release? I mean, if they were geared up for one production run, why not do another?

    Why Not Ask!

Why not ask Joe D' at MTL! Get Loren to twist his arm some more. Maybe Joe can give us an answer. Sounds good to me!

I assume you mean the Nn3 database. They are in there all the way at the bottom, at least on my December 2005 copy of the Excel version downloaded from MTL.

They used Marklin mechanisms and maybe they can't be procured any longer.

But it's worth a query to Joe. Can't hurt.

George, these are not the Nn3 models. I know the ones you are talking about and those are listed on the site just as you said. They looked pretty good as well, if I remember correctly. :) The z scale moguls were numbered 1600, 1601, and 1603 and were z scale on the box from the factory. They might have have shared the same mech. but they were packaged by micro-trains and sold as prototypical according to their literature in the box. (my guess is the shell and tender are on the right specs, but the mech might be a tad off) Again, it really is no big deal just kinda strange, as if MT is trying to seperate themselves from this model.

About when were these released? I don't recall ever seeing or reading about these... and now you have me quite curious about them.

Being as I didn't get into Z until about 2 years ago or so I don't know the exact date. Perhaps someone can help with it? Rob maybe? I do know the numbers were 1600, 1601, and 1602. There were 3 different versions. If you check out my gallery at http://www.railimages.com/gallery/joeszajko you can see several pictures of them.
