Looks like I will be getting a GHQ Mi-Jack straddle loader for my N Scale Intermodal yard, at a very good price I just have to wait for it to get here from the USA I will probably do a photo "how I built it", and post results here.
I notice that on this one on the Mi-Jack website, it has a NS logo. Do other roads add their logo? Mine would be in a UP yard, so I could add a UP shield? Mi-Jack site
Alan, I found this <a href=http://www.upds.com/intermodal/graphics/upds01.jpg>photo</a> of a UP intermodal facility. It's not a great photo, but if you look carefully you can see the UP shield on the top right portion of the crane. I have seen this practice many times on many railroads including UP and BNSF. In fact, I saw an orange and green BNSF "Heritage"-painted lift in Chicago... but unfortunately I was on Metra and couldn't get a photo. I would say that you are definetly within prototype practice if you were to decal your Mi-Jack with UP's shield. Cheers!
Thanks Doug! I will now definitely add the shield My Mi-Jack kit arrived a couple of days ago, so I am looking forward to getting started on the construction. But I am a bit busy right now, so it may have to wait a little while. I will take pics as I build it, and post here.
Has anyone here built the Walthers HO scale one, it looks like I'm going to be building a small intermodal yard for our club layout & that would seem to fit the bill for a crane.
