I got an extra FRED (long story) so I just installed it on an Intermodal car. Looks great, flashes good. However, I need power pickup. The car has MicroTrains trucks right now.

Thus, I need wipers (which I can get from Richmond Controls, if there isn't a better source) and metal wheels. The one box of Atlas metal wheels I have seem to be insulated from the axel on both sides, so I don't think they will work.

What parts do I want to get?

Life Like makes metal wheel sets. I don't know that they will work for your application, but you can check them out. I have no ideas for wipers.

Related story: about 10 years ago a young modeler from our local club (HO) aksed me if I had a box car he could put a FRED in. He had just done a couple of HO cars and wanted to try one in N. So I give him a roundhouse 50 footer. A couple weeks later he gace it back with the FRED on the back, the circut & battery inside and a slide switch poking out through the floor to turn it off & on.

It still works terrific. Original battery too.

Oh, and the young modeller is now in the Navy, doing high level secret type stuff on nuclear subs.
