Was also able to get a better shot of SP 1215 along with a shot of WP 917D. Been waiting for the move to finally shoot the F7. Weather was great and a good time had by all. Also my buddy Jeff and I were offered to be put to work on the UP GP30. We may just end up goin back to see what we can do for a little fun. :D

Both cool looking paint schemes, but very different. Is the blue one the newest scheme?

The blue one is ex Amador Central #12, hence the blue. The #1100 is ex Southern Pacific. Quincy #5, ex Amador Central #11, also wears the blue scheme and is still currently in service at Quincy,CA. Still havn't got a shot of her lettered for the Quincy yet. One of these days.
Once Amador Central was shut down, these two locos replaced QRR #3 and #4 with #1100 kept as backup until just recently when #3, #4, #12 and #1100 have all been moved to FRRS in Portola.

    John-

Is the Quincy RR still operational?

Has the Amador Central been abandoned? Or is it simply out of service for now?

Yes, the Quincy RR is still operational out of Quincy,CA and uses #5 (ex AMC#11). Quincy's Susanville,CA operation has been shut down, hence #12 and #1100 being moved to Portola. The Amador Central was shut down years ago but revived as the Amador Foothills for a couple years using ex AMC #10. AFRR has also been shut down recently and the row is now on lease to a speeder car group.

Originally both the Amador Central and the Quincy RR were Sierra Pacific owned. When SPI sold the mill in Martell,CA to Georgia Pacific, they(SPI) kept AMC #11 and #12 for their Quincy RR operations in both Quincy,CA and Susanville,CA. #11 was renumbered #5 and replaced both #3 and #4 at Quincy,CA. #12 took over at the Susanville mill job until it was also recently closed.

AMC is one of the main feature roads on my Foothill Rails site and I have a Quincy roster there as well. Both have many pics and some more info. :D

By the way, I know #1100 is in the rent a loco program. I think #12 is as well. Wouldn't that be a hoot! :D

Another fun note, #1100 is the last surviving SP TR6A type switcher. I believe there is another of this type survivng elsewhere however but it isn't ex SP to my knowledge.
