I picked up some ME code 55 flex track, and first I noticed that there's a lot of flashing on the ties, to the point that it would almost be as much work to remove it as it would be to just hand lay some track. Then I noticed that the ties aren't centered. They stick out more on one side than the other, so if you try to line two pieces up, it's really obvious if you have one with the ties sticking out the opposite side. Other than that I love the detail on them, and the ties seem to hold up better when soldering compared to the Atlas stuff. Anyone else noticed this or did I just get a bad batch?
The fact that ties are not even was because it was designed that way, more of a random appearance unlike Atlas C80 and PECO C80 & C55. If you need to lay parallel tracks, use the rails to line them up. I do remember having some flash on the ties that I used years ago, but nothing that was so bad it was ugly.
If the flashing is near the bottom of the ties you may be able to remove it by sanding the bottom lightly.
A friend purchased a batch of ME c55 and he too noticed the offset ties. According to what I've been told, there was a large shipment of defective track, so your best bet, if you're able, is to return the track and ask your vendor for credit or an exchange.
Sorry ferrisworld, my mistake. I was thinking that you meant the ties are uneven in regards to each other. Not a a whole.
Have code 40 ME like that, SOOO much flash. Made me regret my purchase, but I didn't want to handlay anything but the turnouts.
The off center thing would bother me,but what's the problem with flash? More glueing surface, and covered by ballast..
