Before I have another Lesson Learned--- I am getting rid of the Rapido coupler on the front of the Mogul. I plan to install a MT Z scale 905 coupler (903 assembled).

I removed the cow catcher and the T bar Rapido and spring- Obviously, the 905 does not fit.
    Do I
    1. Not use the 905?
    2. shave down the insides of the box into which the 905 will sit until it sits well and then reattach the cow catcher?
    3. If 2. above, do I use Elmer's white to keep the 905 in place or find a way to unobtrusively use a screw to hold in place?
    4. Am I completely barking up the wrong tree?
    5. If not, is a shim needed?
    6. Will this be the same Q&A with their Consolidation?

    Mark:

You can install a MT Z scale #905 in the MDC 2-8-0 and 2-6-0.

You just have to make an opening large enough to install The MT #905 (assembled coupler) from the front of the loco.

The MT #905 is narrower at the back end. I would use a small amount of CA cement to glue the coupler box in position once you've determined the correct height for the coupler.

I used this approach on the Atlas Shay. I don't think you'll be able to use a screw to hold the #905 in position.

I haven't worked on my MDC 2-8-0's yet for couplers, but I do intend on using the MT Z scale #905 which will look great on the 2-8-0 and 2-6-0.

Stay cool and run steam on the LLL.... [IMG]

My apologies for reasking the questions- I ahve revived the old thread that was started by guess who?
Turning 58 might have added to memory loss.
