I've been building some OTTX flats recently, based on an article that was previously discussed. I got to thinking that it might be easier to buy a small lot of the Roundhouse floors for these, esp since I'm starting to end up with a bunch of boxcar shells, some of which I now think would be nice to use.

The problem is, the Roundhouse site says they no longer do direct sales. Does anyone know where I can get some of the floors?

Do you have any pictures of the work you are doing to make those OTTX cars. Never thought of using MDC metal underframes. I made some similar cars for my military train out of the incorrect Con Cor "JTTX" cars. Pretty much reworked the whole car and repainted with a wood deck and channels for the sliding chain tie downs. I also made ITTX cars the same way, but I used Micro Trains 89' pig flats as a starting point. Another way to an OTTX-HTTX style car is the Alan Curtis 60' flat kit with a wood deck.

MDC Roundhouse was sold to Horizon Hobbies on June 14, 2004, and their production and inventory wwas moved to Athearn's new plant in Carson, CA. Someone on another board was able to get parts through Horizon Hobbies' website. Have not tried this myself. I used to telephone MDC myself.
