Greetings all, I’ve been assigned a final project for my industrial materials class to research the materials used in something that interests us. So of course. N scale.. So.. A question to Paul. G and Manufacturers and anyone that might know a bit more about than I do. What materials are used in model railroad products? Results need to be somewhat detailed, type of plastics, types of metals. alloy mixtures, and maybe a few hints at using those materials verses others (ductility, easy formability, processing capabilities and so on). But the biggest thing.. Is the names of the materials used, I can always dig up the info on the specific materials once I have the names... I’m interested in products such as locomotives, freight/passenger cars, and even track. Another twist to the question. I need to look into the history of materials used back in “the day”. Ian, I hope I'm not telling you this too late... This forum has been SLOOOOOOOW lately. Not sure why, normally this time of year it is bustlin'!
