Hi! Anyone know if I can put a Micro-Trains caboose frame onto a Marklin caboose? [IMG] OR, atleast Micro-Trains trucks onto a Marklin caboose so I can have a more standard, western style caboose? The only thing I don't like about Marklin products, is that the trucks look like they are too close towards the middle of the cars. I don't know about switching the frames back and forth between the two, but it is possible to put micro-trains couplers on Marklin rolling stock. Here is a link to FR's website that shows how to do it. The only problem is the bolster pins. I don't know where you can readily obtain those from. You might try a small diameter metal tube and cut it to length. That may work. I have a couple of the Marklin gondolas that I plan to convert, just haven't taken the time to look for the tubing or bolster pins yet.

Hey, thanks for the link, but I just don't like the way the trucks set so far in? Not very prototypical. [IMG] Looks like another kitbash project in the works. [IMG]

    Kurt,

Let me know if you need any parts (ie, parts not a whole car!!)...I may have them laying around the shop or at home. The problem with the Marklin cars is of course the distance the wheels are set back. Body mounts are my first choice, but you still have alignment problems. Just the other day I ended up grinding down one of our 50' underframes to fit the bottom of a Marklin car cause' is was easier and worked better...Oye..

Take another look at FR's website. He has the complete plans for the movement of the trucks under the Marklin caboose and the addition of MT couplers. And it works out just as he describes.

Joe, maybe you can help me, I have about four well cars that are missing their walkways and the hand rails. Two are TTX and two are SP cars. The problem is my youngest like to play with my trains when I am not home, and I dont really like to discourage him. I dont mind paying for them, just dont like to look at my well cars with missing parts.
