At the risk of being banned for writing too many threads...I have to see this through.

OK all, the motor on my DB89 runs just fine with NO WHEELS..it stalled yesterday, just got hot and sat on the track going nowhere. I took all the wheels out and jumped power to the brush bars...motor ran like a champ ... over and over...

So..the problems is the gears are binding up right???

Can someone please confirm the CORRECT way to put wheels/gears back. I must be doing something wrong, yes?

    I have been using

    1. Back wheel and conn rod (make sure rods go into slots correctly).
    2. Back gear wheel
    3. Middle wheel
    4. Front gear wheel
    5. Front wheel

Before I put back the plate I make sure all contactor strips are behind the wheels..this bit is rather fiddly...

I have inspected the gears and I see no damage.....

I just can't quite give up on this yet, I really thought I had a bad motor/armature but it runs just fine with no load..up to very high speed..and only gets moderately warm...

    Comments????

I work in a Science lab and Monday this lot is going in to a Ultrasonic bath for about an hour with aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent, quite harmless to paint.

    Graham,
I don't have a DB89 so I can't help you directly, but it shouldn't take more than 5 minutes in the ultrasonic to clean the unit.
