After posessing one of Mark Gasson's 50' Waffle side boxcars for some time, today I finally managed to finish it. Since painting the two Mark4Design Hi-cubes, the waffle car has been sitting on a shelf having had a few thin coats of white on it. I took it off the shelf and threw the airbrush together and did a little painting. I glossed it, then decaled it, then flat clear coated it for protection. Here she is! Placing decals over the waffles was a challenge compared to a smooth surface like the 50' Hi Cube that Mark4SDesign offers. Took a little time, but I finished it. Great product you have there Mark! Look forward in getting more of your cool rollingstock in the future! :lightning: Hobo Tim p.s. Mark4Design is in the process of improving their website. It is not posted yet, but I am sure Mark will let everyone know when it is up and running!
Post your 50' Waffle Photos Here! John, you should take some photos of your Waffle Cars and express them in this post. After all, I named it 50' Waffle cars! Hobo Tim
Tim, Thank you, thank you, thank you! Southern serves the South! Southern gives a greenlight to innovation! I love it! I will be ordering decal sets SOON. I'm going to have to order more waffle boxes! As an aside, I see as many of these SOU boxcars still than I do NS lettered cars. I even see them on CSX trains, probably the second most common car I see. I saw an interview with Wick Moorman not too long ago where he talked about possibly bringing back the "Greenlight to innovation" slogan in conjunction with environmental efforts to curb emissions and fuel use with the new Tier II locos. Randy, where is your Southern boxcar. Here is my version. We have been talking about the high cube markings, and the Gunderson is a little taller. In fact, the difference in height is about the height of the white strip.
