When I returned home today from work, in my mailbox was a box that travelled all the way from New Zealand! It's finally here! The new 50' Hi-Cube boxcars I ordered. Wow! They look great. Same awesome craftsmanship that the Waffle side 50' boxcar has. Easy to assemble. I can't wait to paint it and take photos. Wow! For you who are waiting for Mark to release the boxcar, the only reason I was able to order early is I am making my own decals. Have some patience, they are coming real soon! Mark, Awesome Work of Art! Thanks! Hobo Tim
Railbox! John, I am going to make them into Prized Railbox Hi-Cubes! :lightning: Hobo Tim p.s. Then again, BNSF sounds pretty good! :teeth:
Any progress on decals for the Waffle-sided boxcars? I'm looking for CSX and Southern. Any suggestions on alternate sources if these aren't going to be ready by NTS? Thanks, Randy
Tim, have you painted the Gunderson Boxcar. I want to see what kind of detail it has, and do you have the Railbox decals made already.
TTX 50' Gunderson Hi-Cube Boxcars I have completed a project that I have been working off & on for quite some time. Actually, I threw some Railbox yellow paint in the airbrush a couple weeks ago when I painted my BNSF Husky's and painted the 2 Mark4Design 50' Gunderson Hi-Cube Boxcars I have. Well, to try and jump start my inner "Z", I decided to finish the 2 boxcars. I must say, they are fabulous! Definite Keepers! Sunday I started creating the artwork for the TTX decals. I finished the decals Monday evening and printed them out. I commenced to painting the roofs white and the doors black. I then painted on some gloss for decal purposes. Today I started putting on the decals and then topped it all off with a coat of flat clear to protect them. Once dried I assembled the couplers and the trucks. I then dug out the two MTL Railbox 50' Ribside boxcars I own and threw together a quick scene to take photographs. And, here they are; OK, now for the Mark4Design 50' Waffle Side Boxcar decals. I have made some CSX decals, but not sure how they will look. I have sent them in the mail to John Mui for testing purposes. Randy, if you want some, I'll print some more up. I have nearly completed the artwork for SOUTHERN decals, but have run into a slight snag! I cannot find a font the same as the SOUTHERN font. Nothing even similar. It is the "S" and the "O" that are the pains. I will most likely have to create the "S" & "O" using drawing features. No problem! OK, end of posting. What do you think of the photos? Hobo Tim
What can I said. It looks awesome as usual. By the way, I have three waffle cars painted already. I guess I will be looking for the postman.
I am not sure what I am most impressed with; Mark 4s 50' hi-cubes or Tim's paint job and decals! Good job! Rob
I just placed a order of Gundersons with Mark. Lets start a party for the retirement of boxcars with walkways. Now, where did I put all those jewel boxes.
Not this year! Sorry Bryan, not this year. The distance and the lack of the means to get there are my worst enemy right now. I am, however, thinking of sending, on loan, a few of my special items to Randy to display/run (Happy Birthday Train, [1] 50' Gunderson Hi-Cube boxcar, and maybe a few BNSF Husky's). We'll see! Hobo Tim
Tim, Now that we are back from NTS, I am assuming you did not have time to send these since I didn't see anything show up. Randy
I always wanted a Railbox, but not wanting $70 for a boxcars, I build one of MK4D Gunderson boxcars with Tim's decals. Together, they look great.
Very Nice! If I didn't know better, I'd say you stole one of my boxcars! :shade: Great Job! Who's next? :lightning: Hobo Tim
Hah! When Jeffrey White saw the Hi-Cubes and the Waffle car in person he immediately started thinking of applications on his UP/D&RGW/SP/Utah layout! What did I start? Hobo Tim p.s. John, I just checked. My Hi-Cubes are safe and sound! :teeth:
