Here's my latest project, while Hart's Mill Crossing reaches completion. This will be a pure point-to-point,
enclosed in a six foot length of PVC tubing, which will have an eighteen inch view port opening to a
    subway station platform.

I am stepping out of my comfort zone on this one. The hardest part will be to figure out how to
wire up these components correctly to start the train on one end, stop at the station platform,
travel to the far end, reverse, do the same thing over again, automatically.

Anyone got any links how to wire these gizmos? The sensors are infrared.

What are you running here? Arduino, or is this some sort of point to point set up you’ve purchased?

How far are you going to run these things in PVC? Not only does that make it hard to monitor them for problems, it seems kind of pointless.

I believe they do still make clear Lexan pipe.

Thanks for the tip, Acptulsa. I did not know about clear Lexan pipe.

The idea was having the train appear in the viewing portal and then disappearing again. I may rethink that, as the project progresses.

I am hoping that if the connections are correct and secure, there will hopefully not be an issue of monitoring it. We will see if that assumption is correct.

If you built a box you could have more room for detailing the tunnel. Adding tunnel lights would be nice. A box would could have a removable lid which is an easier way to grab derailed trains.

Nice project. Your idea is something I have wanted to do on a module that I run with a Japanese modular layout, maybe some day as I have lots of projects. I would just represent the station as a window in the module frame and point to point would be the way to go with trains stopping in the station then just going off scene a waiting a couple minutes to return. Maybe show the surface scene with stairways going down to the station.

I took this photo a few years ago at the Kato Hobby Center in Tokyo. This is clear Lexan pipe. The track is N Scale Unitrak.

More useful tips, thank you. Right now awaiting a replacement sensor and a repair chip from England.

Bogged down waiting for chip to show up. Will try a cell phone test on sensors Wednesday.
