Ken (Boxcab), do you have any more Maine Central Flimsies? I'd be especially interested in the MEC Mountain Division that connected Portland, ME with Montreal, Que. But orders from other divisions would interesting also, especially those that controlled B&M traffic. The MEC and the B&M were jointly owned and shared locomotives, cars, and whole trains without worrying about trackage rights, haulage rights, or other bureaucratic mumbo-jumbo. Even 6000, the equivalent of the Q's Zephyr, had dual B&M/MEC heralds.

The Mountain Division junctions with other RR's, and engine terminals that I remember are: in Maine - Portland (B&M, GT, and engine terminal), Cumberland Mills (B&M), and Bridgton Jct. (Bridgton & Saco); in New Hampshire - Intervale (B&M), Bartlett (Crawford Notch engine terminal), Quebec Jct. (MEC), Whitefield (B&M), and Waumbeck Jct. (B&M); and in Vermont - St. Johnsbury (CP, CV, St. Johnsbury & Lake Champlain, and engine terminal). There may be others, but that's all I can find on a map from the March, 1946 MEC Employee's Magazine.

Edit - Ooops, I missed junctions with the GT at Groveton and North Stratford, NH, and with the CP at Beecher Falls, NH.

As an aside - MEC stopped freight traffic through Crawford Notch in the early-80's when Guilford abandoned that portion of the Division. Fortunately the line is still in use today with excursion trains operated by the Conway Scenic Railroad.

    Hank-

I somehow missed this post! Sorry. :embarassed:

I certainly have MEC train orders. Not as many as the B&M. Would be happy to scan them. The B&M thread was fun. I only wish more folks had joined in. But at least a couple of us had some fun! I will work on doing some. Heck. Maybe all. Why not? Sound interesting?

Ken, I know you collect trainorders. Where do you find them? Swap meets?

    Hi Jim-

Swap meets. In past decades, sales lists. Years and years of letter writing. Many, many e-mails. Asking, and inquiring. Looking up old trainmen, agents, operators, etc. On, and on.

It's truly disappointing, how few people collect these seriously. Shows me there's a profound ignorance of history, amongst RRdiana people, and fans. Trains couldn't move without this paperwork! For over 130 years! :eek:mg:

Anyhow, the chase (search) has actually been some great fun.

Ken, that Bartlett Order is great. I assume it's referring to Bartlett, NH, because I can find no record of a Bartlett in Maine. However, I don't recognize the names Mayo and Gilman. I've never heard of those names in relation to Crawford Notch or the NH North Country, and I can't find any reference to them on Maine maps, so I don't have a clue....probably just names that pertain solely to the MEC?

BTW, that was Jim who asked the question on your source of Flimsies, not me.

Hey, I'm not complaining, just making an observation. It's all MEC, regardless of location, or state of mind...

I'll try to find Mayo and Gilman on the 1947 MEC route map.:teeth:

Ken, Cumberland Mills is part of the Mountain Division, but I don't have a clue where "Mountain Jct." is....?

Guess I'd better get the 1947 MEC map out like I promised earlier.

    Hank-

I have no idea where Mountain Junction was located. Maine is as close as I can get. Ha ha. Can you post a map?
