Anyone have BN equipment rosters going back a few years? I'm curious to know, what matches the number BN966570? It's stenciled on old trucks under a caboose.

    Ken,
It is not listed in the 4/76 version.

The 1/81 has cars from 966000 through 966415 listed as gondolas.

I have no other equipment rosters.

    Dan-

They're under a privately owned, ex-GN caboose just east of Coram, MT. Know of a preserved GN caboose roster?

BN did have some waycars in MOW service as converted bunk cars. The other option is the guy who owns the waycar had to buy seperate trucks and got a set from a BN gondola. What type of trucks are they. Here is a shot of a bunk service waycar.

It's the one they list as being West Glacier. (Known as Belton on the RR!) Which to me this caboose seems closer to Coram..... Not in quite as nice condition now, as that web site shows.

That's what I'm wondering. This is an old GN wood caboose from the 1940's.

    Interesting!
The caboose was either sold minus trucks, or the original trucks were so far gone they couldn't be used.

I'd guess sold without. Am sure the trucks it had at retirement, should have been good enough for display purposes.

When you get over this way, you can investigate for us! :shade:

    Tony-

Here is the caboose. Not sure if you can see the trucks well enough to guess their type?

Well they are not leaf spring, so they are not caboose trucks, these may have come off a Gondola.

It may be that the original trucks were not usable. How was the caboose delivered? The FRA does not allow some types of older trucks to be used anymore. If the caboose was moved to it's present location by rail, it may be that it needed federally compliant trucks for the movement.

It could have been moved to Coram by rail. But from the siding to it's location now, would have been via truck.

Right. That's why I was curious. Wondering what they came from.
