Hi, I'm looking for some rather obscure information about the M10000 and/or other early UP streamliners. Was there a Pullman-Standard builders plate or stamp anywhere on the locomotive or cars? If anyone has any information regarding the location and/or contents of the builders plate of an early UP streamliner, please let me know. Thanks, John
Hi John. Welcome to Trainboard. I would assume the UP streamliners carried GM/EMC builders plates. I can't find a photo that shows one, but I would guess they would be near the bottom and either in front of or behind the door on the engineer's side. They would include model desgination (anybody know what that would be?), build number, build date, wheel arrangement (I think), and I don't know what else. In case you're interested, here's a list of the build numbers: M-10000 508 M-10001 510 M-10001 513 (rebuilt with the first V-16 diesel engine) M-10002A 514 M-10002B 515 (900 hp diesel engine from M-10001) M-10004B 519 M-10004A 520 M-10005A 522 M-10005B 525 M-10006A 526 M-10006B 527 M-10003A 528 M-10003B 529 (2nd EMC 529; B&M's Flying Yankee was also 529) Hope this is at least somewhat helpful. Dwight
